Welcome to American Pop!

Welcome to American Pop’s blog!

We are a social media marketing agency.  As you can see, we’ve forgone the usual website in favor of a blog (hence being housed on Wordpress) with links to other American Pop presence within social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).   We decided to “walk the walk” and dive completely into Social Media and not build a website for now.  We are also forgoing any clever manufactured buzz phrases and acronyms for what we do (“There’s a fine line between clever and stupid” – Nigel Tufnel, Spinal Tap).  Social Media Marketing seems pretty accurate.  Our basic philosophy is to let the people with whom we engage guide us on how to best communicate with them.  The landscape of Social Media is constantly changing, what is popular and effective this month may not be 6 months or a year from now.  For example, Twitter is yielding great results for our clients as of writing this blog; it did not exist a few years ago and may not exist a few years from now.  This underscores how crucial it is for us to constantly have a finger on the pulse of Social Media, to continually refine our approach as Engagement Channels come and go and to be fully aware of the particular ethics and etiquette unique to each community we engage.

The American Pop blog will be dedicated to sharing what we’re observing on the web.  You’ll be hearing from me, my partner Craig Lazar (he’s threatening to highlight his favorite appetizers in future blogs), our Director of Strategy Gipson Bachman (prolific Twitterato and Social Media expert), as well as our Community Ambassadors who are on the frontlines actively engaging with consumers on a daily basis.  We will also be sharing links to online content that we find interesting.  At American Pop we’re carefully nurturing a culture of learning and sharing.  This is true in-house as well as with our clients.    The more we can educate our clients and future clients about social media the better for everyone.

We, also, want to hear from everyone out there.  Please, don’t be shy with your comments and questions!
